Oswego Police said today (September 27), that Jamie L. Towle, an account clerk in the Oswego County Treasurer’s Office, was charged by Oswego Police with Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, a class D felony and Falsifying Business Records, a Class E Felony.

On Tuesday September 25, at approximately 3:19 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Oswego City Police Department, executed a narcotics related search warrant on a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, and its occupants, as it traveled northbound on State Route 481 within the city of Oswego. As a result of the search warrant executions, approximately 14.2 grams of crack cocaine was located and seized, according to police. Two people were charged.

The second victim in a previously reported death that occurred at 347 Brecheimer Road in the town of West Monroe on Monday, September 10, has died, the Sheriff’s Office reported today (September 25). Michael P. Shane, 59, of 451 County Route 11, lot 31, West Monroe, died earlier today (09/25/2018) as a result of injuries suffered in this incident, police said.

The Great Lakes Seaway Partnership announced the release of Economic Impacts of the Port of Oswego, a report documenting the many contributions made by the port and Great Lakes Seaway Shipping to the city of Oswego, Oswego County, state of New York and Great Lakes region.

“It’s never too early to think safety. The calendar may say winter begins on December 21, but snow emergencies can take place in October. That’s why it makes sense to prepare for it now,” Dale Currier, director of the Oswego County Emergency Management Office said. “I urge residents to prepare their families and their property for the winter months ahead by taking some simple, common-sense steps today.”

Governor Andrew Cuomo today (September 19) announced six projects being funded under the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative in Oswego. The Governor’s $25 million initiative was created to help 16 communities develop locally driven strategies to reduce poverty and increase economic opportunity for all New Yorkers.
