Fulton Man Accepts Plea Deal for Manufacturing Meth In Presence Of Children

A Fulton man arrested in December 2015 for manufacturing methamphetamine in his home with children present has plead guilty to one felony charge and three misdemeanor charges. Tyko J. Delaney Sr. was arrested along with four others for possessing equipment and materials to manufacture methamphetamine. A police report indicated that there were six children present in the residence at the time the search warrant was executed.

FCSD Wins Two Focus School Appeals, Becomes Focus District

The Fulton City School District has won two appeals to remove elementary schools from a state list of focus schools. But, the district as well as the high school remain on the list. Despite the district’s newly acquired status, school officials remain optimistic about the journey ahead for FCSD. “It is a disappointment to be designated as a focus district,” said FCSD Superintendent of Schools, William Lynch. “But it is a reflection of how only one sub group is performing. Accountability is all about performance of subgroups.”

FCSD Modifies Election Districts, Polling Locations, Schedules Budget Hearing

The Board of Education for Fulton City School District approved modifications to election districts and polling places at the regular meeting held Tuesday at GRB High School. Currently, the school district is divided into four election districts with each election district having it’s own polling location. However, through the board’s approval, the boundaries have been modified to include only two districts. Now, election district #1 will include all the voters living on the east side of the district, or anyone residing east of the Oswego River. Likewise, Election District #2 will include all voters living on the West side of the district, or anyone residing west of the Oswego River. FULTON – At Tuesday’s regular school board meeting, held at G. Ray Bodley High School, the Fulton City School District Board of Education was able to preview the upcoming high school musical presentation, Oklahoma! Set to hit stage for the public next week on March 3, 4, and 5, the Quirk’s Players have been tirelessly working to perfect their performance and be stage ready. All their hard work was shown through their small preview for the members of the Board of Education and those in attendance at the meeting, but the Quirk’s Players had another surprise for Superintendent Bill Lynch.

Fulton School Board Approves 2016 Capital Project Bid

The Fulton School District Board of Education has accepted and approved the contractor bid for the 2016 capital project after a presentation at Tuesday’s (Feb 23) regular board meeting. The 2016 capital project is an extension of the 2012 and 2014 capital projects and will be funded using leftover money from those two prior referendums. Two Oswego County Schools Place in Finals at WGI Regional Competition

Two high schools from Oswego County traveled to Rochester on Saturday (Feb 20) to compete in the Winter Guard International Regional Competition at Gates Chili High School. At the WGI Regionals, Central Square High School (Varsity) and Oswego High School (Varsity) competed in the Scholastic A class, a group of 15 total schools from all over New York and one school from New Jersey. Both teams qualified for the finals after a prelim score of 70.080 placed Oswego in fifth place and a score of 72.110 placed Central Square in third place, missing second place by only two-tenths of a point.

SUNY Oswego Graduate Sets Anchor Record at SportsCenter with 5,000 Broadcasts

SUNY Oswego alum, Linda Cohn set the record for most broadcasts anchored at SportsCenter with her edition airing Sunday on ESPN. Cohn graduated in 1981 from SUNY Oswego, where she also played on the women’s ice hockey team and has worked with SportsCenter since July of 1992.

Increase in Fire Reports Throughout County ‘Normal’ During Winter

Although fire and ice don’t generally mix well, winter weather brings about the ideal conditions to cause structural fires. Preliminary Phase Two of FCSD Smart Schools Bond Act Open For Public Input

The FCSD Board of Education unanimously approved the Smart Schools Bond Act preliminary investment plan for the second phase at Tuesday’s (Feb. 9) regular board meeting. The Smart Schools Bond Act was passed by voters in a referendum in November of 2014 and allotted $2 billion dollars to NYS school districts to heighten learning through technological and infrastructure enhancements.
