As soon as the “Steel Palace” its doors on Oswego Speedway’s 2017 season, it began to morph into the “Clay Palace.” DIRT Week is scheduled for October 1- 8 and the track is nearly ready, according to Jeff Hachmann, director of events. The track is just about ready, a bit faster than last year, he told Oswego County Today. But there are a mryiad other pieces of the puzzle to contend with, he added.

The Port City’s winter parking policy for this winter will be the same as it was last winter. “We voted down a change to the law tonight. So the policy that we had last year still stand,” said Councilor Nate Emmons. “In terms of the exception policy, if you don’t have a driveway you can apply for a permit and be able to park one car on the street.”

Councilors Eye Streamlining Property Disposition Policy

At Tuesday’s Administrative Services Committee meeting Councilor Nathan Emmons, through Kevin Caraccioli, City Attorney, requested consideration from the Common Council to approve a Property Disposition Policy and Procedure for city-owned real estate. There is a policy in place, but it generally pertains to foreclosed property, he explained. The new policy would revise the way in which the city may come into ownership of a property, while refining the manner of disposing of such properties.

Oswego Students Return To The Classroom

Hundreds of students returned to the classroom Wednesday in the Oswego City School District. The high school offered “Freshman First Day” on Wednesday. Grades 10-12 will officially kick off the new academic year on Thursday. “I asked a student if he had a good day. He said, ‘No, I had a Great Day!’ He may not have realized it but he made my day feel that way too,” one principal said.
