The public hearing will take place at 7:10 p.m. on March 28 in the council chambers. Mayor William Barlow pointed out that, in the past, some of the public felt city government had “backroom deals and shady discussions” and “it wasn’t the most transparent government.” That is why he has recommended creation of an ethics board.

Oswego’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Draws Huge Crowd

The inaugural Oswego St. Patrick’s Day Parade was greeted bright blue skies, temperatures that flirted with 60 degrees and a large enthusiastic crowd on Saturday. Clusters of parade watchers lined West First Street toward Bridge Street. Some of them staked out prime viewing locations a few hours prior to the 1 p.m. start time of the parade. The crowd was even larger along Bridge Street.

Legislature Celebrates County’s 200th Anniversary

County Legislator Shawn Doyle gave his peers a brief history lesson at the March legislature meeting. The lecture was part of the celebration of Oswego County’s bicentennial. Helping the legislature commemorate the anniversary was Assemblyman Will Barclay as well as representatives from the offices of other state officials that represent Oswego County and various city, town and village officials.

For a variety to reasons – sometimes because we have taken in a mother and her kittens and the mother was trying to survive on her own and was never well-socialized, sometimes because we take in kittens that are just a little too old to socialize easily, we end up with cats in foster care who will probably never be happy as house cats.

Gov. Cuomo Announces $450,000 In Grants To Grassroots Groups To Enhance State Parks, Historic Sites

The grants, funded through the Environmental Protection Fund, will be matched by nearly $242,000 in private and local funding which will support projects to strengthen friends groups and enhance public access and recreational opportunities at parks and historic sites across the state.
