The Oswego Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team will host the first “Kick Cancer” Tournament this Saturday. Games will begin at 1 p.m. at the Richard Benjamin Fields (near Oswego Middle School). All proceeds from the event will benefit the “Coaches Vs. Cancer” Relay For Life Team.

Better treatment, increasing prevention programs and stepping up law enforcement efforts are the focus of a report released today (May 28) by members of the New York State Senate Join Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction; a bipartisan group tasked with examining the issues surrounding the increase in drug abuse in New York State.
Recently, Theresa Kline and Mary J. Simard, Oswego AmeriCorps volunteers, organized Diapers for Darlings. Several businesses and agencies donated diapers, baby wipes and formula and other items to the cause. All donations will benefit families through the Emergency Services Department at Catholic Charities of Oswego County.

For decades, police officers throughout Oswego County have participated in the annual “Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.” On Tuesday, officers representing the cities of Fulton and Oswego, the county and others carried on the tradition. The runs are designed to focus attention on the Special Olympics.
