Historical Area Of Oswego River ‘Trashed’

Collection of chairs pillows and other trashOn Sunday, a group of local Oswego paddlers along with visiting paddlers were exploring the historic Battle Island area of the Oswego River. Passing by the south end of the island, opposite Battle Island Golf Course, some type of manmade items could be seen from the kayaks on the island. What they found was an abandoned encampment where a ruined tent/clothing, spoiled food and human waste were left.

Deepwater Ciscoes Re-Introduced Into Lake Ontario

The “bloater” fish, a deepwater cisco, was re-introduced into Lake Ontario offshore of Oswego, bringing the fish back to the lake for the first time in nearly 30 years. The historic action is the first of its kind in the Great Lakes and is the culmination of several years of collaborative laboratory, hatchery and field research.
