Appellate Court Reduces Jones’ Conviction

The appellate Court held that, as a matter of law, the evidence before the jury was legally insufficient to establish that Jones acted with the mental State of depraved indifference at the time he caused Erin Maxwell’s death. He is, however, guilty of second-degree manslaughter and will be returned to county court to be re-sentenced on that charge – maximum sentence of 5 to 15 years in state prison.

Significant Changes Ahead For OFD In 2013 Budget Proposal

Wednesday night, at the first of three planned budget workshops, Mayor Tom Gillen proposed closing the west side fire station, reducing the number of firefighters on shifts from 14 down to 10, and cutting the number of ambulances by two and the remaining three would respond to calls within the city limits as of Jan. 1, 2013.

Oswego School Board Considers Options For Big Picture School

Students at the newly formed junior-senior high school in Oswego are doing very well, according to the principal. The board is looking at options to allow the 7-9 school to continue to grow into a 7-12 school. Or it could decide to restrict its growth keeping it as a 7-9 school in the portable site behind Oswego Middle School.
