Dozens of “sickened” young people descended on Oswego Hospital Thursday. It was all part of a large drill and the teens’ participation helped train those who’d respond to such an event if this had been an actual emergency. The drill focused primarily on the hospital’s ability to effectively respond to incidents that would involve large numbers of chemically contaminated patients who self-report to the facility.

A representative from the Upstate Poison Control Center of Syracuse spoke to nearly 60 people Wednesday night in Oswego. “Any time you’re messing with (synthetic drugs), it’s like playing Russian Roulette,” he said. “Not a good game.”
