Arms Of The Frozen Cliffs
February 18, 1942. Forty foot waves of freezing black water crashed against the ice-covered mountains that stand watch over the North Atlantic. Three war ships: the USS Wilkes, the USS Truxtun and the USS Pollux unknowingly sailed into danger on what would be their last run from the East Coast to the North Atlantic near Lawn Point and St. Lawrence, Newfoundland.

Man, Woman Charged Following Domestic Dispute
Two people are facing charges in the wake of a domestic dispute in Oswego Town on Wednesday afternoon. Both are scheduled to appear in court later today.

Body Identified As Oswego Man
The individual whose body was discovered on the shore of Lake Ontario, in the County of
Oswego, Town of Scriba, has been identified as 19-year-old Jesse A. Holden, of 23 W.
Mohawk St., Oswego, according to police.

Fire Department, Coast Guard Hone Ice Rescue Skills
The Coast Guard has been conducting joint training exercises with the Oswego Fire Department to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Earlier this month, a college student was swept off the Breakwall and into the icy Lake Ontario water. He suffered only minor injuries and was rescued quickly. Many people aren’t as fortunate, according to Senior Chief Joe Orlando of Coast Guard Station Oswego.

Oswego Man Charged In Connection With Multiple Burglaries
The suspect has been charged with felonies in connection to at least two separate incidents. Police are continuing to investigate and additional charges are pending.

Mayor Honors Firefighters For Life-Saving Efforts
Mayor Tom Gillen presented a certification of appreciation to the members of the Oswego Fire Department at Tuesday night’s council meeting. Chief Jeff McCrobie and five firefighters were recognized for rescuing Aaron Matthews after he had been swept off the breakwall into Lake Ontario on Feb. 6.
