County Administrator Philip Church And DSS Commissioner Frances Lanigan Address Legislature’s Health And Human Services Committee
The two county officials make statements to the committee in regards to the death of Erin Maxwell. The county has taken three specific actions that will soon lead to the release of more information about Erin’s case, as well as a full independent review of DSS’s involvement with Erin, the County Administrator said.

Be Part Of A World Record
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau has partnered with the Oswego YMCA (along with others) to set a new world record – for the largest Uno card game. They have extended an invitation to everyone, young and old, to take part. The goal is to have at east 1,000 players.

City To Have New Personnel Director In November
A former personnel director will return to City Hall. Nancy Sterio is currently the city’s personnel director. Her term expires in early November. The mayor said he wants to go in a different direction and will appoint M. Rite Tickle to the post.

Benefit Planned To Aid Heart Patient
Ken Whitney has had several heart attacks and two triple bypass surgeries. His wife works part-time and is struggling trying to keep up with all the bills. A group of family friends has banded together to conduct fundraisers to benefit the family.

Mexico High School Tigers Score Title Of Body By Milk MVP
The team received a $1,000 from got milk? plus $1,000 from Adidas for new equipment and more. The Tigers are one of 25 teams nationwide (and only one in New York State) to be named a Body By Milk MVP by got milk? and the School Nutrition Association.

Board Members Draw Up List Of Traits Superintendent Should Have
The new school chief should be someone with knowledge of, an interest in and a history with the Oswego community, the board said. They are also looking for a person who is upfront and honest, is a strong disciplinarian, a good communicator, trustworthy, and credible, among other attributes.
