Annual Family Fun Walk for Autism Draws Hundreds

It was a perfect day for a walk. And, hundreds of people took advantage of the sunny warm weather to stroll around the Wilber Track to help rause awarebess of autism. Besides the organized three-mile walk, the 12th annual Family Fun Walk for Autism feature plenty of activities inside the near by gym at Leighton Elementary School on Saturday. Representatives from several agencies were available to discuss the services they provide, and some great raffles to take a chance on.

12th Annual Family Fun Walk for Autism Set May 5

The 12th annual Family Fun Walk for Autism will take place on Saturday, May 5. This event is free and open to the public. Organized by the Oswego County Autism Task Force, the event is much more than just “a walk.” It mixes a three-mile walk with a variety of fun activities while it aims to raise awareness about autism and the services that are offered locally and regionally.

Meet The Candidates Forum Held At OHS

A small crowd got to know a little bit about five of the six candidates seeking two open seats on the Oswego Board of Education Tuesday night. Christopher Joyce had planned on participating, but was called into work. The other five faced a series of questions submitted by audience members at the OHS cafeteria. The candidates include Thomas DeCastro (incumbent), Jeffrey King, Tom Ciappa, and former board members Kathleen Allen and Mike McLaughlin.

Oswego County Drug Task Force Seize Approximately $1,222,410 In Illegal Drugs

On Monday (April 30), at approximately 4 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Oswego City Police Department, executed a narcotics related search warrant at the 300 building of 550 W. First St. in the city of Oswego. As a result of the search warrant execution, approximately 1,230 grams of Fentanyl, 324.3 grams of heroin and 62.1 grams of crack cocaine were seized, police said.

Central Square Man Arrested On Sex Abuse Charges

State Police arrested Austin M. Baker, 20, from Central Square, today (April 30). He was charged with Sex Abuse 1st degree (D-felony), Forcible Touching (A-misdemeanor) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A-misdemeanor). The arrest stems from an incident that allegedly occurred at a residence in the town of West Monroe on or about November 11, 2017.

Cuomo Announces More Than $100 Million To Pave Roads Impacted By The Extreme Winter

Governor Andrew Cuomo today (April 30) announced more than $100 million in state funding to repave and enhance roadways impacted by the harsh weather this past winter. The projects in CNY include approximately $16.4 million in projects to pave 134 lane miles of roads in Oswego, Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland and Madison counties.
