Operation Oswego County held its 56th annual meeting at the SUNY Oswego Campus Center on Friday. Keynote presenter Tim Barry, senior vice president for O’Brien and Gere, an engineering and project delivery firm headquartered in Syracuse, spoke about the master plan for energy asset management and development at Riverview Business Park in the town of Volney.
Board members ask administrators to show them what the budget would be like with a 4.7 as well as a 3.5 tax rate increase. They will meet again to next week to decide which, if either, best suits the needs of the entire district. The district must have a budget in place by the end of the month.
Harmony Riders Association of Parish will hold a fund-raiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital on June 28. A pig roast dinner will be held at 6 p.m. to raise additional funds. All funds raised will help St. Jude in its ongoing fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases, organizers said.
UPDATED: A special school board meeting is set Thursday to discuss the budget. Unofficially, voters defeated the 2008-09 spending plan by a 1,666 no to 1,133 yes tally. The school board can now either adopt the budget as currently is or meet and decide to reduce the budget.
