Earlier this month, the mayor proposed to make permanent the City of Oswego Residential Home Improvement Tax Exemption, a tax break to encourage home improvement projects. And, he also proposed a new local law that provides a similar tax exemption for businesses within the city of Oswego that improve, expand or renovate their property. Monday night, the council OK’d both.

“I’ve been stationed at Naval Base San Diego my entire tour,” he told Oswego County Today. “I was driving to work one day, I think it was February 21, and in front of me a vehicle ran a stop light.” Two other vehicles were caught up in the ensuing collision. His actions that day helped save two lives.

A gateway landscaping project will enhance the entrances into the city, the mayor said. Improvements will extend from Hillside Ave. up to Third Ave. on the west side. On the east side, improvements will start at the triangle shaped island located at the intersection of East 12th Street and will extend towards East 10th Street.
Hundreds of people took advantage of the first rabies clinic of the year on Wednesday night to safeguard their pets from the rabies virus. The crowd started forming before the official 6 p.m. opening. By then, dozens of pets had been vaccinated.
Oswego County Sheriff Reuel Todd’s daughter read a letter at the county GOP Committee meeting recently saying that he isn’t running for re-election. However, she noted that he intends to finish out his term in office. In his letter to the committee, the sheriff said he supports Undersheriff Gene Sullivan as his successor.
