The sports anchor is working through a proposed tagline to end his broadcast. Scripts are being loaded into the teleprompter. Dohse has one last quick chat with his on-air talent then sits down just out of view of the three cameras pointed at the news desk.

Sensory Rooms Provide Calming Environment For Local Students

Bright lights, smooth textures and serene scenes are a few of the highlights in the new Sensory Rooms for students with autism or autistic tendencies at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation. Shannon Babbie, CiTi coordinator of student programs, said the rooms are designed to help provide a focus or calming environment to that specific population of students.

Fall Fun Day Set At North Volney Methodist

North Volney Methodist church will host a Fall Fun Day on the church grounds on Saturday, Sept 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be games for the children, crafts and other activities.

Mexico Elementary Open House Draws Large Crowd

Mexico Elementary School’s open house was a huge success. Students and their families flooded the hallways and classrooms, as the children in grades pre-kindergarten through four were ecstatic to show off their school work and have their parents or guardians meet their teachers.

Bowen’s Corners Church Planning Rummage, Bake Sale

Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church is preparing for its Annual Fall Rummage Sale and Bake Sale. The event will be held Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.at the church which is located at 758 State Route 176, just west of Fulton.

The Granby Elementary School Parent-Teacher Group hosted its annual kickoff event to celebrate a great start to the 2017-18 school year. PTG vice president Shannon Beebe said the event served as an opportunity to show students and their families how much life beyond the classroom exists with Granby Gators.

Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition Has Your Back!

The Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition “has your back” if you are a senior (or caring for a senior) who has experienced a fall or is at risk of falling. The coalition has information on programs to improve balance, identify proactive measures, and increase your confidence in falls prevention. It serves Oswego County residents by providing information on services that are available in the community to help prevent falls and increase balance.

Staff at The Cornerstone Club are seen leading members in one of the daily exercise activities, which gives participants a chance to get in some exercise while socializing in a fun, and engaging setting. The club is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and members can attend full or half-day sessions.

For adults who are isolated or are experiencing limitations due to a functional impairment such as a stroke, or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia-related illnesses, the opportunity to engage in regular physical activities or exercise can be limited. But thanks to a new program recently opened and now serving older adults in Oswego County, exercise and physical activities structured around social interaction is built right into the daily schedule.
