The outstanding character of several Fairgrieve Elementary students was highlighted during a recent Morning Express program honoring them with the school’s Virtue of the Month award. Twenty-six students were recognized by their teachers because they exhibited citizenship throughout the month of June.
Fairgrieve Elementary School first-graders celebrated the end of the 2016-17 school year with teddy bear hugs and library love. Library Media Specialist Barb Senecal recently hosted the school’s annual Teddy Bear Picnic for first grade students, as a celebration of their reading accomplishments.
Students at Fairley Elementary School traveled to Brazil, China, Ireland, Australia and Spain as part of a global history and geography project that transformed classrooms into each country. The unit covered a variety of topics and encouraged the students to explore other cultures through research, art, dance and writing.
Fairley Elementary School kindergartners recently took a virtual field trip to a farm in Zanesville, Ohio. The students interacted with the farm owner to learn about agriculture, animals and farm tools.
During separate ceremonies for the morning and afternoon sessions, students from each CTE program were recognized for their achievements throughout the school year, including National Technical Honor Society status, industry credential milestones, perfect attendance and principal awards.

The screening will take place at the First United Methodist Church, 4372 Church St. in the village of Mexico, on June 26 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation students celebrated their academic growth and personal gains as they accepted diplomas during the Exceptional Education graduation ceremony. Classmates, friends, family, CiTi staff members and representatives from the students’ home school districts filled CiTi’s gymnasium and cheered on the 12 graduates as they processed in the venue.
Senior students of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District were awarded nearly half a million dollars in scholarships collectively during their Senior Awards Ceremony.
Several Emerson J. Dillon middle schoolers were elected into National Junior Honor Society during a recent ceremony held at the school. EJD NJHS advisor Jennifer Mainville welcomed parents and families in celebrating the accomplishments of the inductees and indicated that the NJHS students had planned the entire evening.
