Last year, a new scholarship was created in the name of Los Angeles resident and Oswego native Joe Spereno to benefit an Oswego High School student continuing his or her education in the field of music.
Fulton First United Methodist Church welcomes children (preschool age 3 through high school) to participate in the 2016 Vacation Bible School Program, Survivor Camp. It begins July 18 and runs through July 22 from 6-9 p.m.
The Phoenix Firebirds Sports Boosters Club will host its 28th annual Gary Russell captain and crew golf tournament on Aug. 2 at Rose Creek Golf Course, 344County Route 33, Central Square. The event will begin that day with an 8:30 a.m. check-in and a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The Pulaski Academy & Central School District is looking to make splash during the summer months by inviting students to dive into reading with members of the administrative team. In partnership with Pulaski Public Library, the district will organize several read aloud events throughout the summer.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County is pleased to once again offer basket weaving at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center. On August 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Linda Scherz Allen will lead a hands-on workshop in miniature basket weaving as part of the center’s Nature Inspires series.
Thanks to many generous donations from all over Oswego and surrounding counties, the Oswego County 4-H Program will fill the Believers Chapel in Mexico on July 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everything is priced to sell.
Members of the 2015-2016 class researched recycling efforts and developed lesson plans which will be passed on to members of the 2016-2017 Global Environment class to teach to elementary students throughout the Fulton City School District.
Although college financial awards are often reserved for members of a graduating class, 16 John C. Birdlebough High School juniors recently earned scholarships of their own.
Awards were distributed to student athletes at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School and John C. Birdlebough High School recently, recognizing them for high academic achievement. Students must be passing three subjects as well as physical education to participate in school sports.
Following the meal, the ceremony commenced in the school’s auditorium with a big welcome from both the Athletic Director Patrick Keefe and Superintendent Christopher Staats. They both expressed their pride in the feats accomplished by this year’s Hannibal Athletes.
