Nurses from St. Luke Health Services, Michaud Residential Health Services and Bishop’s Commons announce a new date for their popular bone density screening. The screening will take place at the First United Methodist Church, 4372 Church St. in the village of Mexico, on July 11 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Paul V. Moore High School business students qualified for Career and Technical Education endorsements on their diploma and also for the New York State Business Teachers Association Honor Society.
Sixth graders at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District are now ready to move on up to the high school after completing a Moving Up Award Ceremony on the last day of school. Principal Julie Woolson gave the opening remarks to the ceremony by first asking all of the parents to stand up and be recognized for the achievements of their children.
The graduating class of 2016 at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District completed their first-ever “Senior Walk” on the last day of school at the APW elementary building. Administration, teachers, faculty, parents, friends and students cheered on the class of 2016 as they walked the halls dressed in their caps and gowns.
During the recent eighth grade awards ceremony, students received much applause and words of encouragement from staff members who noted their growth, maturity and drive all advance during their last year of junior high school.
The third annual fabric sale fundraiser is being held to support the Oswego County 4-H Program, part of Cornell Cooperative Extension. This sale will be held on a new date this year, but in the same location: July 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Believer’s Chapel, 5375 State Route 3, Mexico.
Volunteer firefighters Carl Emmons Jr., Jordan Patrick, Chris Miner, Richard brand and Carl Emmons III participated in the presentation, in which students learned about fire prevention and equipment and tools used to fight fires.
Guests filled the Fairley Elementary School gymnasium for the celebration, which featured performances of “Rise and Shine,” “The Alphabet Song,” “The Hokey Pokey,” “Mother Gooney Bird,” and “Skinnamarinkydinkydink.”
The first meeting will be held on July 12 at 6:30 p.m. The first selection for the book club will be The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick.
Sandy Creek Elementary School first graders recently celebrated their reading accomplishments during the annual Reading Tea event. Reading Tea is the culmination of what the students learned in English Language Arts throughout the school year.
