Students exceeded expectations of being safe, responsible, a problem solver and respectful in their classrooms at Fairgrieve Elementary School. Several students were recognized during a recent Morning Express program for exhibiting those classroom expectations throughout the month of February.
Students in Lynne Field’s first grade class wore Thing 1 and Thing 2 blue construction paper hair and paper plate name tags. Students in both Beth Hudson’s and Becky Crisafulli’s first grade classrooms wore paper Cat in the Hat red and white hats.
The North Country Quilting Guild is accepting entries for its biennial quilt show to be held June 3-5 in Clayton. The show will feature more than 300 quilts plus a special exhibit honoring the 30th anniversary of the guild.
Actors from The Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre offered in-class workshops where kindergarten students learned how to show their pony hooves, roar like tigers and act like elephants, seals, acrobats and other circus activities.

Phoenix Central School District seniors Kellen Arnold and Zachary Van Gorder have been named the top two students in the John C. Birdlebough High School Class of 2016. Arnold was recently named valedictorian and Van Gorder earned salutatorian honors.
Students of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District participated in the 33rd Central New York Model United Nations conference held at Syracuse University recently.
Emerson J. Dillon Middle School students were recently recognized for their random acts of kindness as well as for academic achievements.
The annual Oswego County 4-H Tack Sale will be held March 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Central Square Middle School. The proceeds from the sale help to support the 4-H educational horse programs held throughout Oswego County.
Granby Gators chomped their competition during the building’s inaugural Battle of the Books event, held Feb. 26 in the elementary school’s library.
