Members of the Firebird Concert Chorus performed nearly a dozen songs, much to the pleasure of the audience full of proud family members and friends. In addition to the concert chorus, the chamber singers also belted out seven songs ranging from “Take Me to the Water” to “Kiss Me Softy.”
Students in Robyn Yorker’s Stepping Stones Day Program class recently participated in a Kids Writers Contest sponsored by the Public Broadcasting Station of Watertown. The students’ stories have been compiled into a bound book that can be enjoyed by everyone in the school library.

Mexico students excitedly waited in line to get the autograph of former NASA astronaut Story Musgrave at a recent STEM presentation held at the Mexico Middle School. 80-year-old Musgrave is the perfect example of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) applied in life.
Workforce NY’s Oswego County Training and Careers Expo was hosted at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation recently, a chance for students to learn about Oswego County employment opportunities. SUNY Oswego’s Director of the Office of Business and Community Relations Jeffrey Grimshaw kicked off the event with a speech about decision-making and career goals.
State Street United Methodist Church will have a rummage sale on April 30, May 1 and May 2. The hours will be from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Port City Faith Assembly of God will hold a craft and vendor show on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 436 W. Fifth St.
Members of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society from SUNY Oswego visited residents at St. Luke Health Services as part of ODK’s National Service Day activities. National Honor Society members visited with residents, shared in conversation and some laughs, while taking part in a group activity.
The Hannibal students received awards for perfect attendance, honor roll and high honor roll for the third quarter. Students who raised their grade point average by five points or more were also recognized.
Elementary school students recently participated in the Red Cross’ Pillowcase Project, a preparedness education program that teaches students about personal and family preparedness, local hazards and coping skills.
