Sharing her success story with Exceptional Education students at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation, program graduate Bev Humphrey discussed the challenges and triumphs of life after school. Seniors at John C. Birdlebough High School saved their best for last as they wrapped up their fourth and final Spirit Week with a victory in the Battle of the Classes. The annual event is the culmination of a yearlong effort in which each class receives points for completing various service projects and for displaying school spirit.

After a long, dreary winter, Phoenix student musicians ushered in the spring season with an upbeat concert featuring several solo performances that brought the crowd to its feet. The John C. Birdlebough High School symphonic band, under the direction of Joanna Young, kicked things off with four songs that delighted the audience.

Hundreds of students, teachers and community members filled the high school auditorium for the annual event, which served as a fundraiser for the senior class trip to Boston. In addition to raising money, the show also provided an opportunity for a diverse group of students to display their talents.

On the SUNY Oswego campus recently, dozens of local high school students learned the meaning of the phrase “a picture paints a thousand words” during an Oswego County Academic Youth League competition. The challenge pitted student teams representing eight Oswego County school districts against one another in a battle of creativity, photography skills and marketing prowess. The team from Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School took first place.

With an eye toward the future, students at G. Ray Bodley High School recently had an opportunity to explore more than 70 job options during the first-ever career day. The event began as an idea discussed at a conference and quickly transformed into a massive collaboration between the Fulton City School District and area businesses.
