Thanks to the fundraising efforts of Fairgrieve Elementary School’s parent-teacher organization in the Fulton City School District, students at the school are now enjoying a brand new swing set.

Students at Fairgrieve Elementary School in the Fulton City School District are expected to remain on their best behavior throughout the year as part of the school’s list of behavioral expectations. This week, as part of the school’s daily Morning Express assembly, students have been learning what their behavioral expectations are throughout different areas of the school.

Participants in ARISE programs as well as Oswego County ARC and Oswego County Opportunities had the terrific opportunity to participate in a two-day golf clinic hosted by John Hayes and the Evergreen Hills Golf Course. Oswego Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie served as a volunteer instructor and worked with participants on proper golf etiquette and form.

The Rachel’s Challenge presentation is coming to the Fulton Junior High School on September 24 beginning with an inspirational presentation to 7th and 8th graders in the morning, an afternoon presentation to student leaders and staff members, and a third presentation open to the public at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

There will be a political rally and Second Amendment rally at Bull Head Point on Sept. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. There will also be a chicken barbecue ($3) eat in.

As a way to celebrate before, during and after the school’s varsity football homecoming game, Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School Student Senate will host its first-ever “Red Raider Rally” on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents at Michaud Residential Health Services have been taking paint brush in hand as part of an oil painting class being led by volunteer Mark Colgan. And what has become evident is that no matter one’s experience level, the opportunity to try something new or to continue an interest in painting has been well received by participants.

Students at Granby Elementary danced the night away at the Family Kickoff Picnic on Sept. 11. Sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Group, the evening was a huge success with large attendance from students and their families.

The scouts helped young visitors dig for prizes in the Treasure Chest daily in the 60-foot exhibit tent located in the mini-NY State Park at the Syracuse Fairgrounds. New York Sea Grant and The Great New York State Fair developed the exhibit in partnership with the Great Lakes Seaway Trail, H. Lee White Maritime Museum of Oswego and others.
