Child Abuse Prevention Month Celebrated in Oswego

There were 46,659 indicated reports of child abuse and neglect in New York State in 2012, according to Christine Deyss, executive director of Prevent Child Abuse New York. During April, many local organizations are spreading awareness, including the Oswego City School District who is spreading child abuse awareness and raising funds with their own “Pinwheels for Prevention” campaign.

Oswego Police Arrest Mexico Couple On Felony Drug Charges

handcuffsOn Wednesday at approximately 5:30 p.m., investigators with the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team (ACT) detained two individuals at 437 State Route 104 in the city of Oswego. This was a result of the Oswego City Police Department’s continued efforts to combat the possession and trafficking of illegal drugs. Mexico residents Joshua M. Sprague and Wendi M. Czirr-Sprague were arrested.

Pulaski Mock DWI sends a very real message

As students arrived in the south parking lot, they saw this scene laid out before them: a two vehicle, multiple injury accident with one apparently deceased victim.The Mock DWI program, done in cooperation with many agencies and offices in Oswego County, is held every other year at the school and timed to be just prior to the prom. The accident scenario’s timing was intentional and served as a dramatic reminder of what can happen when a person chooses to either get behind the wheel of a car after drinking, or chooses to ride in a car when the driver has been drinking.
