Principal Lisa Garofalo gave certificates to one student from each classroom that exemplified the character trait for April which is self-control. In addition to the classroom role models, students were recognized and awarded certificates for being “On A Roll” models.
According to Debbie Richardson, Hannibal School District’s food service coordinator, the government’s new standards set specific nutritional requirements on grains, fruits and vegetables, sodium levels, calorie levels and sugar grams. As a result of these new requirements, Hannibal School District began implementing changes to the menus in 2013 and will gradually continue to make changes over a five-year period, Richardson said.
Pulaski High School track and field standout Breann Burns signed a letter of intent to the University of Rhode Island where she will run hurdles for their team. There were 46,659 indicated reports of child abuse and neglect in New York State in 2012, according to Christine Deyss, executive director of Prevent Child Abuse New York. During April, many local organizations are spreading awareness, including the Oswego City School District who is spreading child abuse awareness and raising funds with their own “Pinwheels for Prevention” campaign.
