APW Hosts National Honor Society Induction Ceremony
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School Chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed seven new members during an induction ceremony hosted at the school in early spring.

On April 20 from 8 a.m. – noon there will be a freewill breakfast buffet at the Oswego Masonic Hall. Donations accepted but not expected. Easter Day each child in attendance will receive a free gift.
Culinary students at Oswego County BOCES recently visited Wegmans in DeWitt for a shopping trip as part of a class project. Under the instruction of Chef Sue Jerrett, students were tasked with choosing a recipe, gathering ingredients at the store and preparing the dish to present banquet style for a panel of judges.
Destiny Teel signed a letter of intent to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma recently. Teel, a senior at John C. Birdlebough High School in Phoenix will attend the school and participate on the track team.
With state examinations taking place this week, students and staff at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School looked to reduce test-related stress by hosting a pep rally on Monday. According to Principal Mary Stanton, the event was a motivational tool to get the entire school community to rally behind its test-takers.
Students in Oswego County put their literary knowledge to the test as they faced district champions from across the county in the County-wide Battle of the Books contest on March 20 at Mexico High School. Battle of the Books is a nationally recognized literacy program coordinated in Oswego County through the Oswego County BOCES School Library System.
Fairgrieve Elementary School recently recognized students for their exemplary demonstration of the district’s monthly virtues. March’s virtue of the month was Perseverance. The recognition occurred during the school’s Morning Express program.
Oswego County BOCES board member Donna Blake (Hannibal CSD) recently returned from Ghana after an 11-day medical mission trip. Blake works for Northeast Dental Group, and splits her time between four offices in Onondaga and Oswego County.
Students in grades 6-9 from Sandy Creek Middle and High School competed in the Science Olympiad at Red Creek on March 14 where they finished in 14th place overall out of 31 teams from across Central New York.
An opposable thumb lab had students at the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior/Senior High School quite literally “all thumbs.” The students in Janet Campbell’s tenth grade biology class have been studying evolution and the adaptation of humans.
