The Children’s Museum of Oswego is taking a giant leap forward as it will hold a presentation to reveal the results of its recently completed feasibility study. It will be on January 29 at 7 p.m. at the American Foundry. The board of trustees commissioned Dr. Robert “Mac” West of Informal Learning Experiences, Inc., to conduct the study. Dr. West’s study will help place CMOO into the dynamic community and includes an assessment of the current state of financial, cultural, and demographic aspects of our area.

The event, for prospective New Vision students and their parents, aims to introduce students to the program and provide information ranging from the application process to the specific opportunities available.

I am pleased to hear about the tax cuts for Upstate manufacturers. Cutting corporate taxes will give businesses more reason to stay as well as attract others. It was disappointing to hear so little about Central New York in the speech. I hope the budget reveals other details for our region.
Hannibal school personnel, community stakeholders, students and parents continued to lay the groundwork for the district’s future during a meeting recently among the Strategic Plan Committee’s three task forces. Divided into groups targeting student engagement, family/community engagement and academic achievement, the task forces delved into lengthy discussions to help develop a five-year blueprint for Hannibal schools.
Recently, students at Brewerton Elementary School in the Central Square Central School District, joined together with Craig McGrogan and the Reed HQ Aquarium in Australia for an undersea adventure. The videoconference was part of a distance learning initiative between Oswego County BOCES and Central Square CSD.
