Local community developer to lead YMCAs in Oswego County
The collaboration between the Fulton Family YMCA and the Oswego YMCA has a new executive director who has a record of strengthening the community. Greg Mills of Oswego will lead the two YMCAs starting July 29. To take the post, he will step down as a longtime board member of the Oswego YMCA and as assistant director of the city of Oswego Community Development office.
Cayuga County Legislature approves Cayuga CC 2013-14 budget
At its regular monthly meeting tonight (July 23), the Cayuga County Legislature approved the College’s 2013-14 budget, which includes a 3.5 percent, or approximately $140 a year, increase in tuition. The 2013-14 annual tuition will be $4,090 for full-time students, and the part-time rate will be $165 per credit.

Community Foundation Awards Grant to Oswego’s Marine Museum
The Central New York Community Foundation and the Richard S. Shineman Foundation partnered to award a $20,000 Strategic Partnership Grant to the H. Lee White Marine Museum. The Marine Museum will utilize the grant to assist with strategic planning, legal, accounting and promotional costs associated with the organization’s formal merger with the Oswego Maritime Foundation and the Oswego Maritime Alliance.
Bishop’s Commons Hosts Education Program by the Alzheimer’s Association on Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviors
To provide caregivers with some useful strategies, Bishop’s Commons Enriched Living Residence in Oswego will host a caregiver educational program presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of CNY. The educational program will take place on August 7 beginning at 6 p.m.

Ralph Edward Stacy Jr. announces his campaign for the office of Fourth Ward Councilor on the City of Fulton Common Council. As a lifelong resident, the 37-year-old feels that the “city with a future” needs new blood and a renewed motivation in order to preserve the future of Fulton, to increase a desire for citizens to stay in the city, and to encourage those who reside outside of Fulton to relocate to a welcoming neighborhood.
