Football, volleyball, golf and soccer were all on the schedule recently for the Oswego High School Buccaneers. A tremendous effort was turned in by the Oswego High School varsity football team on Friday night at Joe Wilber Stadium.
The color and excitement of high school marching band competition will be on display Saturday in Oswego. The annual Oswego “Pageant of Champions” usually brings thousands of marching band fanatics to town and when the first band steps off the line at 6 p.m. a full house is expected to be involved in every move and note.
On September 14 and 15, the Oswego City Police Department deployed additional personnel to address quality of life concerns in residential neighborhoods.
This detail consisted of uniformed and plain clothes personnel. As a result of this effort, several arrests were made:
Combining the best of the three elementary schools’ celebrations into a unified district’s back to school picnic, those attending were treated to a luncheon and carnival that featured games, crafts, food, and more.
Career and Technical Education students enrolled in the Public Safety and Justice Program at Oswego County BOCES held a special ceremony on Patriot’s Day to honor and remember the men, woman, and children that lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
New York State 48th District Senate candidate Amy Tresidder is making a public plea to Senator Patty Ritchie to stop spending tax dollars on veiled campaign literature.
Tresidder said that Ritchie has been using taxpayer money to send out literature that does nothing more than promote her re-election campaign.
“The Independence Party is proud to support Mike Backus for County Clerk. Mike has the background, experience and integrity to lead the Oswego County Clerk’s office for the next four years,” said Chairman Frank MacKay.

Early this morning (Sept. 16), control room operators removed Entergy’s James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant from service to begin its 20th refueling and maintenance outage after generating electricity safely for 700 consecutive days. This marks the second consecutive time FitzPatrick has operated “breaker-to-breaker” (operating from one refueling outage to the next without needing to take the plant offline in between).
On August 31, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force regarding a possible on-line enticement case that occurred in the Oswego County area. A joint investigation by the NYSP Computer Crime Unit and members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Pulaski identified a 15-year-old victim.
