Fulton Lodge # 830 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks held its Annual Lodge Installation of Officers and Inaugural Dinner on March 31 for the Elk year 2012-2013. The ceremony was well attended by Elks members, families and their guests.

As I write this column, we are closing out on a long week of budget talks and have just passed the state budget in Albany. I was happy with the budget process. It was done during the daylight and lawmakers had plenty of time to review the bills before voting. Again, we met the April 1 deadline–the second time in two years.
For the second year in a row, I can report your State Legislature and Governor worked together on a bipartisan basis to pass an on-time budget that works for you and your family. Why is that important? Because, after years spent earning its reputation as the “most dysfunctional” government in America, Albany is starting to show it can get the job done.
