New York State Honors Dr. Vilma Junio

The New York State Department of Health recently recognized Oswego pediatrician Dr. Vilma Junio with a Certificate of Excellence for achieving a greater than 90 percent immunization rate on children before the age of two. These are standard vaccinations recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. This high rate demonstrates the care that Dr. Junio provides to her clients and also works to maintain “herd immunity,” an important factor in lessening the chance of these diseases resurfacing and spreading throughout the community. At hand for the presentation were Erin Ciappa, RN, Oswego County Health Department; Lisa Adams, medical assistant, Dr. Junio’s Pediatric Office; Amber Simon, medical assistant, Dr. Junio’s Pediatric Office; Vita Friedlander, LPN, Dr. Junio’s Pediatric Office; Dr. Dennis Norfleet, public health director, Oswego County Health Department; and Dr. Vilma Junio, pediatrician.The New York State Department of Health recently recognized Oswego pediatrician Dr. Vilma Junio with a Certificate of Excellence for achieving a greater than 90 percent immunization rate on children before the age of two.
