Richardson-Bates House Tours Still Available

The Oswego County Historical Society reminds everyone that the Richardson-Bates House Museum is still open for tours every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. from now until the end of December. Tours are also available at other times through appointments, which may be made by calling the museum at 343-1342 or through the e-mail address ochs@rbhousemuseum.org. Shown discussing information shared during tours are Historical Society Board of Trustees members, from left, Barbara Hanley, Peg McKinstry, and Lyn Patterson. APW Continues Tradition of Honoring and Promoting Student Leadership

Captains for the fall sports seasons were invited to a leadership brunch at the APW District Office where the role of team leader and the responsibilities associated with that role both on and off the sports fields were examined. Area Masons Celebrated Square and Compass Day on October 15

The Oswego County Legislature recently presented a proclamation designating Saturday, October 15, 2011 as Square and Compass Day to area Masons. Ten Lodges throughout Oswego County hosted open houses to conduct tours and answer questions about Freemasonry. At hand for the presentation and pictured from left is Oswego County District Deputy Grand Master John Krauss, member of Lake City Lodge 127; Oswego County Legislator Fred Beardsley, District 9 and member of Central Square Lodge 622; and Grand Director of Ceremonies Ronald James, member of Hannibal Lodge 550. The Oswego County Legislature recently designated Saturday, October 15, 2011 as Square and Compass Day to promote education about Masonry and the dedicated service its members provide to county residents.

Fire Safety Presentation at Altmar Elementary School

Anna Mullin, in front, a fourth-grader at Altmar Elementary School displayed for fellow students the proper technique in stop, drop and roll during a recent fire safety presentation at the school in the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown School District. With Mullin in back, left to right is: Altmar Assistant Fire Chief Corey Holcomb in full turn out gear, EMT Dan Collins, and Altmar Elementary School Principal Denise Penoyer.Following the school’s regular Friday gathering, two local volunteer firemen Dan Collins and Corey Holcomb visited the school to educate students about what to do if they are in a fire.

Fulton Rotarians Get Into the Halloween Spirit

Trick or Treat Trail was the tale at a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting.   Rotarian Doug Stevens, center, introduced Cale Shorer, left,  owner of All State Insurance Agency and Matt Fragale, right, owner of MF Graphics, both in Fulton.  Cale & Matt told about the Canalview Trick or Treat Trail that they began last year.   The idea came to them to try and encourage safety for the many kids who celebrate Halloween. All the businesses in the Canalview Mall area have been cooperative and helpful.  This year's Trick or Treat Trail will be held October 28, Friday, from 4:30 PM  to 6:30 PM .    The Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Friday at 7 AM at Fulton's Riverside Inn.Cale & Matt told about the Canalview Trick or Treat Trail that they began last year. The idea came to them to try and encourage safety for the many kids who celebrate Halloween.

Open House Held at Oswego County BOCES’ Mexico Campus Location

Parents and family members of Oswego County BOCES students in the Special Education, Multi-Occupational and Career and Technical Education programs were recently able to take part in the school’s annual Open House. Held at OCB’s main campus in Mexico, the event gave parents an opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and/or team of teachers, visit classrooms and shop areas, see some of the projects the students have been working on since the start of the school year, and also participate in some fun activities. Pictured are parent and student visitors to Mr. Mark Ellis’ Computer Repair and Networking (A+ and Cisco) classroom where he shared an overview of what students in his classes will be learning, what the job market looks like for graduates from the program and general information about Oswego County BOCES and its cooperative services.Parents and family members of Oswego County BOCES students in the Special Education, Multi-Occupational and Career and Technical Education programs were recently able to take part in the school’s annual Open House.
