The Bristol Hill Congregational United Church of Christ will celebrate its 200th anniversary with a tent revival and chicken barbecue on Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to approximately 6:45 P.M.
Pastor Andrew Hinman states “Our congregation’s history speaks of revivals during the mid-1800s which people would come from all around for days to participate and enjoy in each other’s fellowship and various ways to celebrate God.” He wants this to be a “truly interdenominational celebration of Jesus Christ.”
The tentative schedule of events is:
1:00 P.M. – Opening by Pastor Andrew Hinman of Bristol Hill UCC
1:30 P.M. – Piano accordion performance by Janet Carp of Palermo United Methodist Church
2:00 P.M. – Christopher Green, Youth Minister of Fulton Nazarene Church
3:00 P.M. – Pastors Willie and Eva Mitchell of the Christ Cultivating Community Church, Syracuse *This inner-city church will also bring their praise dancers
4:00 P.M. – Evangelist Gene Addison
*Gene has brought the word of God to people around the world, including countries like Japan and Ireland. He has recorded his testimonials on audio CD.
5:00 P.M. – Brian Pribis of Fulton Alliance Church
5:30 P.M. – Les and Linda Green
*Each year, the Greens perform in over 200 churches, Gaither TV programs, and other special meetings, preaching and singing the great news of Jesus Christ in a variety of musical styles ranging from Bill Gaither to lively Southern Gospel.
The Bristol Hill Church is on the National Register of Historic Places because its early members took a strong stand against slavery and participated in the Underground Railroad. There will be a display of the impressive history inside the church.
This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. As previously stated, this is an interdenominational celebration and all are welcome.
The church is located at 3199 State Rt. 3, Volney, just 3 miles east of Fulton.
