Buc Booster Clambake set for August 13 to Save Oswego Sports

OSWEGO – The Oswego Buccaneer Booster’s SOS Committee (Save Oswego Sports) has planned a huge clambake with the goal of raising enough money to reinstate the remaining sports teams that were eliminated from the 2016-17 O.C.S. D. budget.

Thanks to the generous donations by the community, 100%of the ticket sales will go directly to the general fund to pay for these teams and help support athletics for this year and next.

The clambake is planned for this Saturday, August 13, from 1 – 6 p.m. at
Colloca Estate Winery, 14678 West Bay Road, Sterling, NY.

The cost of the event is $100 and includes live music, clams, chicken, sausage, assorted salads etc.

Colloca Estate Winery is donating its venue as well as the wine, and Eagle Beverage has donated beer for the day.

There will be soda and lemonade from Coca Cola and Kevin Dewey.

Lee and Kathy Walker have offered complimentary services of the “D Bus” for the afternoon to safely transport people to and from the clambake.

The shuttle will leave Leighton Elementary School parking lot on Buccaneer Boulevard every hour on the half hour with the first shuttle leaving Leighton Parking lot at 12:30 p.m. and the last shuttle leaving Colloca Estate Winery at 6 p.m.

The menu includes steamed clams donated by Sysco Foods, chicken BBQ provided by Davis Bros. Meats and Gibby’s Irish Pub.

Garafolos Importing will be on site to cook its famous sausage, hot dogs and hamburgers.

There will be ziti from Canale’s Restaurant, salt potatoes and sweet corn by John Dunsmoor Farms, macaroni and potato salads from Oswego Sub Shop, salad from DiSalvo Farms and more.

There will be a fantastic line up of music with the following bands and entertainers donating their talents: Sophie Woods, Cam Caruso, Paul Kunzwiler, The Love Volcanoes, Acoustic Justice, and Vitamin X.

The Dance Hall Doctor will be providing DJ service in between the bands.

In addition to great food and wonderful music there will be a silent auction and many raffle baskets filled with items generously donated by the community.

“We are so excited to bring together the community for a fun filled event which directly supports our student athletes and our community as a whole,” said Chris Colloca who has offered up his beautiful grounds in Fair Haven for this fundraising celebration. “Individuals and businesses have donated many items to make this a successful fundraiser for our kids.”

Some of the items up for auction will be 4 tickets to the Syracuse University/ Florida State football game, an autographed NFL football, two lottery boards, 3 autographed hockey sticks, an autographed SU backboard, two junior memberships and four rounds of golf at area golf courses and a Weber grill.

There are also many baskets full of great gifts that clambake attendees can have the opportunity to win.

“This is a huge opportunity for the community to support our student athletes and know that 100% of their donation will benefit the kids and also bring us all together for a common cause,” said Susan DiBlasi, chair of the committee to Save Oswego Sports.

Buc Booster President Judy QuealeDunsmoor added, “We are thankful to the many people have worked hard to make this event a reality and we are hopeful that parents, faculty, community members and anyone realizing the importance of athletic programs in the lives of our students will join us on Saturday for a fantastic event.”
