Like everyone else we know, we have been following the #MeToo movement, as long-time leaders in every segment of society have come crashing down in the wake of horrific allegations about their behavior toward women and girls. And as important as this movement has become, we never imagined it had anything to do with our little column on animal welfare and care for pets. But then a few weeks ago, we began to see news reports with allegations against Wayne Pacelle, the president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States.

SUNY Oswego Students Apply Wellness Skills At Senior Residence

Health promotion and wellness students from a SUNY Oswego class gave St. Francis Commons residents a zest for life last fall with a Zestful Living exercise and nutrition program that continues this spring. St. Francis Commons at St. Luke, an assisted living residence at 12 Burkle St. in Oswego, opened in 2013 for older adults who wish to be independent and active, but may need help with daily activities.

Second Quarter Gold, Silver Star Students Revealed

Gold and Silver Star recognitions for the second academic quarter were recently announced for students of Emerson J. Dillon Middle school. Students are awarded a Gold Star for achieving a quarterly report card average of 90 or higher. A Silver Star is awarded for a quarterly report card average of 85 to 89.99.

Katko: Bipartisan Budget Deal Will Provide $1.4 Million To Oswego Health

U.S. Rep. John Katko today (Feb. 9) announced that, following passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act, which he supported, Oswego Health will receive $1.4 million to continue to serve those most in need. The budget agreement provides a five-year extension of the Medicare low-volume adjustment policy, which provides special Medicare payments to certain small and low-volume hospitals.
