The New Vision Allied Health program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation has expanded to more than 45 rotation sites this year for student learning. For seniors in high school, students in the program have the opportunity to visit each rotation site throughout the year and gain exposure to a wide variety of healthcare settings while shadowing the job.

Clefts are the leading birth defect in many developing countries and over the past 18 years, Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft organization, has been able to provide free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care to more than one million children worldwide – currently under SUNY Oswego alumna Susannah Melchior Schaefer’s leadership.

2017 Collection ‘Tithe My Shoes’ Under Way

An effort is under way to collect 999 pairs of boots, sneakers and shoes throughout Oswego County from Nov 5 through Dec 3. The footwear will be repaired and reconditioned before being delivered to the Rescue Mission in Syracuse. The shoes will be distributed to various charities throughout New York State to those in need.

Oswego YMCA School Age Child Care Creates Cards For Troops

The Oswego YMCA School Age Child Care students and staff are currently working on creating as many handmade holiday cards as possible to be sent to military bases both at home and abroad. According to Kyle Boeckmann, Oswego YMCA SACC director, this opportunity was spearheaded by Elizabeth Abbott, the SACC lead teacher at the Mexico Elementary School, as well as her nearly 40 staff and students.

Cancer Services Program Creates Human Pink Ribbon

Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program Partnership wrapped up its Breast Cancer Awareness month activities by creating its 8th annual Human Pink Ribbon in Oswego County.
