Sandy Creek High School students won’t soon forget a recent chemistry class that demonstrated scientific concepts of dehydration, combustion, decomposition and redox. Following appropriate safety procedures, students volunteered to hold bubbles lit on fire and not get burned.

Friends of Fulton Parks and Oswego County Opportunities’ IMPACT Program sponsored a Healthy Halloween Hike Saturday, October 28, to celebrate their newly marked Oswego River Pathfinder Trail in Fulton. Participants were invited to walk the trail and healthy Halloween treats were provided. More than 70 people were in attendance.
November is National Hospice Month and to commemorate this and support Oswego County Hospice patients and their families, three local restaurants will host their annual “Hospicetality” Day. Canale’s kicks off the events on November 6 during lunch and dinner.
Christmas in Mexico wouldn’t be complete without the church bazaars, special offers by local merchants, free horse-drawn carriage rides, roasted chestnuts and caroling throughout the streets. A trolley will be running throughout the day between local business stops for your convenience.
In conjunction with Catholic Charities of Oswego County, The Cornerstone Club in Fulton will host an open house for the community at their recently renovated location at 808 W. Broadway (State Route 3). The open house will take place November 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. All are welcome to tour the program and speak with staff.
Students have learned how to recognize feelings, ways to deal with those related emotions and come up with a plan to ensure healthy habits are practiced in handling those emotions. “Sometimes there are things that happen that you have to work through,” said Stephany Collins, music teacher, told Granby students during a recent assembly.
After three years, the cemetery fence on County Route 4 (Hall Road) in North Volney is restored and standing straight and proud! The cemetery association would like to thank the community, volunteers and everyone who made the restoration of the 100-year-old fence possible.
Granby Elementary students were recently honored for exhibiting the skills to succeed in school. During a school-wide assembly, 44 students received Skills for Learning awards, which recognized the youngsters for all of their academic efforts throughout the month of October.
The Oswego County New Horizons Band, a 40-piece concert band, will honor all our American Veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good, and their families with a free concert on November 10 at 7 p.m.
