The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee recognized the Oswego County 4-H Dog Obedience Drill Team for becoming the 2017 New York State Champions. Over the last seven years, the team’s discipline, hard work and dedication has been rewarded with one reserve and four championship titles at state competitions.
SUNY Oswego has awarded Merit Scholarships to a select group of students who started at the college in fall 2017. The Merit awards are $3,000 over four years.
The first Oswego County Academic Youth League (OCAY) competition of the school year left students puzzled as their deductive reasoning was tested in a series of mind-boggling puzzle challenges. Teams of students entered the Mind Boggler Arena to put their logical reasoning to the test.
Elf, Jr. The Musical! will be presented October 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. It’ll be staged in the Pulaski Junior-Senior High School auditorium.
During the move in August of its central offices from the Education Center on East First Street to Leighton Elementary School, the district moved dozens of employees and a tremendous amount of infrastructure and equipment with the help of what Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey said were often the “unsung heroes” of the district.
The last of the season waffle breakfast at Mount Pleasant Grange #349 will be held Oct. 21 from 7:30 – 11 a.m. This month’s topping is apple.
Members of the Oswego County Legislature Human Services Committee presented staff members from Oswego County Opportunities Services to Aid Families program with a proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Oswego County.
Catholic Charities of Oswego County, recently received a $500 contribution to its capital campaign from Constellation, an Exelon Company. Mary-Margaret Pekow, executive director, said, “We are very grateful to Constellation’s Community Champions program and their support of our campaign.”
An artist’s reception for “Connie Carroll: Climate Change Series” will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2, at the gallery in the Atrium building, 2 Clinton Square in Syracuse. The exhibition will run through Jan. 31.
Murray Gould, president of Port City Preservation, will provide details on federal and NYS Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit programs. Gould, a national expert on historic tax credits, will educate owners of eligible residential and commercial properties how to utilize the program to help offset the costs of historic rehabilitation work.
