SUNY Oswego Awards Deans’ Scholarships To Area Residents

Under the direction of Jonel Langenfeld of the Oswego theatre faculty, costumed performers will recount the stories of college founder Edward Austin Sheldon; Mary Walker, the local women’s rights pioneer and only woman to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor; Underground Railroad hero Harriet Tubman; Princess Ka’iulhani, the last princess of Hawaii (and her Oswego connection); and more.
The planetarium’s director, Dr. Scott Roby of the college’s physics department, and co-host Richard Frieman will recount the adventures of some members of the college’s physics and atmospheric and geological sciences departments who traveled days to reach different points along the path of the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse.
Each year, students in fifth through eighth grades at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School participate in a variety of activities promoting teamwork, friendship, character education and school spirit.
These grants were made possible with support from the Oswego County Community Foundation, A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital Health Fund, NBT Bank Fund and The Emerick Fund.
The SUNY Oswego College Republicans hope to make an impact on October 25 with a giant eight-foot tall beach ball, which students can write whatever they wish on. The College Republicans hope the pro-First Amendment event will promote freedom of speech on college campuses, an issue which has been a bigger part of political debate as of late.
Developed by St. Luke Health Services, The Cornerstone Club Social Day Program in Fulton offers members a comfortable place to socialize and take part in activities with staff available to provide supervision, health and nutrition monitoring, and assistance with personal care needs, all in a safe location that is easily accessible.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
Karrie Damm, executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego has announced that Nicole Croshier has joined the staff as the agency’s office manager. Croshier, who had previously worked at the Office for the Aging in Madison County, is happy to be once again working for a non-profit agency.
A select group of students who started at SUNY Oswego in fall 2017 have earned Co-op Scholarships worth $24,000 over four years. The Co-op Scholarship is worth $24,000 over four years, and goes to outstanding students interested in pursuing a co-op opportunity who otherwise would have qualified for a Presidential Scholarship.
