In the fall of 2013, nine health and human service organizations organized to form the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition. With the vision that “We will create a fall free Oswego County and support healthy aging by preventing falls through education and awareness”, the coalition applied for and received funding from the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York.
The four choices are S.S. James Fenimore Cooper, S.S. Alvin Bronson, S.S. Virginia Dean and S. S. Gerrit Smith. Each name selection has a place in the history of the library.

Oswego County Opportunities, the community action agency for Oswego County, will hold its annual “Giving Thanks” fundraiser on November 1 at the Lake Ontario Convention, Event and Conference Center in Oswego. Painter Cindy Schmidt is being featured as Artist of the Month for September at the Riverside Artisans Cooperative. “I’ve gone through a rapid revolution that began with painting portraits and seascapes,” she said. “I have settled into creating fantasy, fairy tale paintings and The Cranky Cat Collection, using acrylic paint on stretched canvas, canvas panels or hardboard.”
