Fort Brewerton Historic Site on Route 11 in Brewerton joins the annual ‘I Love My Park Day’ with clean-up activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 6 and 7. Volunteers are needed to pick up litter around the park, clear debris and other tasks.
SUNY Oswego in Syracuse this summer will host STARTALK, a free Chinese language and culture academy, thanks to a grant two SUNY Oswego faculty members obtained through a U.S. National Security Agency language initiative to train more people who speak “critically needed foreign languages.”
“Parents want to do what is best for their children,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “They know the importance of car seats, safe sleep practices and other ways to protect them. One of the best protections is to make sure that their children have all of their vaccinations. Immunization is the most effective way to prevent many infectious diseases. Families, healthcare professionals and public health officials must work together to help protect the entire community in this way.”
The spring round of renovations are nearing completion. At the end of each high school sports season, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association honors those teams and individuals that excel in the classroom. These student-athletes work very hard at both their sport and their academics and deserve to be recognized for their outstanding academic success.
The students were given the opportunity to tear down an old operations and maintenance building on CiTi’s Mexico campus, a perfect chance for the students to get time behind the wheel of excavation equipment and practice their safety protocol.
