A Great Lakes Buoys for Boaters introduction is a new addition to the 10th anniversary edition of the New York Sea Grant Discover Clean and Safe Boating campaign. The award-winning educational program has engaged more than 750,000 in how to be legal, safe, and environmentally-friendly on NY waters since 2008.

Today, (May 17) at 7 p.m., Superintendent Paul Lear will lead a Ludwig Bemelmans themed walking tour of the Fort Ontario Military Reservation National Register District. The tour will assemble at the fort’s main parking lot and visit points described by Bemelmans in his book about his World War I army service in the Medical Corps at Fort Ontario, “My War with the United States.”
OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier and Darlene McDougall, program coordinator with OCO’s Arbor House, welcomed OCO consumer Gordon Velvey and President and CEO of Pathfinder Bank Tom Schneider as guest speakers at OCO’s annual meeting held recently at Springside at Seneca Hill.
Dr. Scott Roby, director of the college’s planetarium, will point out the bright stars and constellations visible on summer evenings and give a light-hearted version of some of the mythological tales behind the constellations, including Cygnus the Swan and Delphinus the Dolphin. Star maps will be provided.

New graduate Sahar Rajput (center) of SUNY Oswego was recently recognized on campus for her Newman Civic Fellowship, one of only 273 such honors the Campus Compact awarded in 39 states and Washington, D.C.
The Fulton Art Association will hold its 44th annual art show and competition May 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and May 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S First St. The association was started by a group of dedicated artists with a vision for the future. They believed that art was important for the community of Fulton.
While current Fulton Junior High School eighth graders won’t become high school freshmen until the fall, the transition from FJHS to G. Ray Bodley High School has already begun. The GRB administrative team and freshmen counselors welcomed the future GRB class of 2021 during a recent eighth-to-ninth grade transition night at the high school.
