A big school assembly at Lanigan Elementary School had one, simple message: “Thank you, veterans.” Students and staff members applauded, cheered and waved paper American flags as over one dozen veterans paraded into the school’s cafeteria for a special Veterans’ Day ceremony.

Fairley Elementary School students recently showed their appreciation to local veterans during a school assembly. Students recited the Pledge of Allegiance, sang patriotic songs and distributed red, white and blue-colored thank you cards to the honorees.

Simple, leftover wood shavings from the making of a wooden lacrosse stick served as reminders that the native way of life goes far beyond pictures of teepees in old history books.

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Jeff Schremp, board president of the Fulton Youth Hockey Association, spoke to the club about
Fulton Youth Hockey which is an all volunteer ice hockey organization that provides affordable ice hockey to Fulton and surrounding areas.

“Yes Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus” will be performed in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Oswego Arts Center at Fort Ontario on Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 4 and 11 at 2 p.m.

Pete Orphanos, site vice president and Mike Kunzwiler, manager of security, presented Debbie Bishop, Friends of Hospice executive director, with a check for $5,000 to support Oswego County Hospice patients and their families.

The Fulton Art Association will host an Art & Crafts Show on November 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Community Room of the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St. The Oswego County Humane Society is collaborating with this event and holding a cat and kitten adoption day.

Each month throughout the 2016-17 school year, all FCSD buildings will collect items to donate to local agencies and organizations that assist its students and families.
