Pastor Chuck Forbes of the Minetto United Methodist Church invites the community to a Give Thanks to God Thanksgiving Eve service on November 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will be a 30-minute service of music, prayers, and communion, with time for quiet reflection.
Recently, students and faculty from Cayuga Community College and members of the community gathered to sing the National Anthem while cadets from Oswego’s USNSCC Truxtun DDG-103 Division conducted a flag raising ceremony at Cayuga Community College’s Fulton Campus in honor of Veterans Day.
Trip is a friendly, cuddly, gray tiger cat who loves to be held, and loves to sit in your lap. He will rub against your legs to let you know he’s hungry. That’s cat language for “When’s dinner?” He is very good with kids and still in the process of learning how to warm up to other animals.
The Tailwater Lodge recently donated a one-night’s stay for a drawing to support the Oswego County Green Team’s anti-litter campaign. The winner was Alyssa Stolarcyk of Greene, NY. The Green Team is a group of volunteers working to reduce litter in Oswego County.
Clear Path was founded in January 2011 and is located 13 miles southeast of Syracuse VA Medical Center. Its mission recognizes the responsibility of communities to help those who serve, empowering service members, veterans and their families through supportive programs in a safe, respectful environment.
Part of United Way’s impact area of ending hunger in Oswego County, the luncheon served as a fundraiser for area food pantries. The Stone Soup Luncheon raised more than $1,300 and collected several boxes of food items.
Proud veterans gathered to reminisce, share their experiences and honor their fellow veterans as Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego hosted a Veterans’ Day Luncheon to recognize its residents that bravely served their country in the United States Armed Forces.
During the month of October the Oswego Middle School Advisory classes participated in ‘HERO in the Hallway’ activities and signed the ‘HERO in the Hallway’ pledge.
