On October 19 from 5 to 8 p.m., Oswego Health will hold its second annual Power of Pink event which will bring attention to the issue of breast cancer at the Fulton Medical Center, 510 S. Fourth St.
Taught by certified instructors, the American Red Cross children’s swim lessons will include sessions for students in first through sixth grades, and parent and child classes for 4- and 5-year-olds.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian LaVerne DeLand introduced Bill Conole, representing the Honor Flight Program. The program recognizes and honors the sacrifices and commitments of veterans, primarily from World War II, but also the Korean and Vietnam wars as well.
Open auditions will be held on Oct. 14 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and again on Oct. 16 from noon – 1:30 p.m. in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Oswego Civic Arts Center for the Oswego Players’ holiday production of “Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus.”
Bill Canole, a spokesman for the CNY Veterans Recognition Commission, spoke to the Fulton Noon Rotary Club about the upcoming Veterans’ Day Dinner. It will be held Nov. 9 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in the ballroom at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. The annual dinner serves as a major fundraiser for both the Honor Flight and Clear Path for Veterans programs.
The Hannibal Historical Society will host Hannibal History Day on October 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Center on Oswego Street in the village. Artifacts showcasing business through the years in Hannibal will be on display, including the history of the former Cook’s Manufacturing Jewelers building on the corner of Cayuga Street in the village square.
On October 29, SUNY Oswego’s Alpha Phi Omega will host its second “Slime Run/Walk” to benefit Make-A-Wish Central New York and help raise funds for wishes. In the spirit of Nickelodeon’s “Slime Time Live,” this second annual, family-friendly event features a competitive 5K run and a non-competitive 5K walk through SUNY Oswego’s scenic campus.
As our 2016 season wraps up, Fulton Amateur Radio Club would like to thank everyone who participated in our Field Day 2016 event. We managed to come together, get set up, get on the air and make contacts! The band conditions were challenging, but all in all, we had a good time. We want to express our deepest thanks to the Fort Ontario at Oswego and director Paul Lear for hosting this event at this wonderful location.
Canale’s Restaurant will provide the next Salvation Army Guest Chef dinner on October 18. They will serve lasagna, tossed salad with their house Italian dressing, and bread and butter. Desserts and beverages will be provided by members of the advisory board. he dinner will be at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center, 73 W. Second St.
