Central Square Middle School seventh graders heard a heart-wrenching story of survival from former South Sudan refugee John Dau. His story brought a real-life perspective to the students’ English Language Arts project about the book, “A Long Walk to Water.”

I would first like to tell you that I think you do a wonderful job for our community. I was just reading about Marley, the cat featured up for adoption on Oswego County Today online. What a great way to communicate with the public. Even though I cannot have a pet, I love animals and always enjoy seeing them featured and walking around my neighborhood. The reason that I am writing is, that as much as I love the cats and mostly dogs in my neighborhood, I do not always enjoy the parents.
Lakeside Artisans will hold a community open house from noon to 5 p.m. on October 29 to kick off the fall season and recognize the retirement of founding members Tim Ames and Michele Southgate. Refreshments and door prizes will be featured for visitors to the open house.
