The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
Families in the Central Square School District can still take advantage of all that Head Start has to offer. The Head Start Center, which will now be known as North Shore Head Start, is located at 2363 County Route 49 in West Monroe at the Life Church.
The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund recently awarded $11,649 in grants to four nonprofit organizations serving the Pulaski area. Half-Shire Historical Society received $2,500 to purchase a new laptop computer to use for scanning photos at community events.
Two new art exhibits will be opening at the Art Association of Oswego on September 17 with a public reception from 7 to 9 p.m. In the upstairs gallery will be an exhibition of photography by two area artists entitled Journey West. The downstairs gallery will feature a solo show of Beth Sotherden’s watercolors.
An evening of history will be presented in downtown Oswego Sept. 14, with a presentation on the historic architecture of Oswego County as part of the county’s bicentennial celebration. Beginning at 5 p.m., Oswego County Historian Justin White and Austin Wheelock of Heritage Foundation of Oswego County will present a photo history of Oswego County’s significant architectural heritage.
The New York State Police from Troop D urge motorists to support AAA’s annual “School’s Open – Drive Carefully” campaign to help preserve the safety of children traveling to and from school. AAA’s yearly “School’s Open -Drive Carefully” campaign alerts motorists to the special risks to school-age children from motor vehicle crashes, the leading cause of death for children from five to fourteen years old.
Welcome back to school. We have been working hard at the Oswego Public Library to rebuild our young adult collection. Many books and graphic novels were taken and never returned last school year.
The Salvation Army of Oswego and the Price Chopper stores in Fulton and Oswego are partnering to help children start the school year prepared to succeed. Each Price Chopper store will have an in-store display to encourage shoppers to purchase school items while shopping in the store. All the school supplies collected will be donated to the local Salvation Army who will provide the supplies to area students.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee presents Karen Meyer with a certificate of appreciation for her 25 years of service to the county.
