The Oswego County Legislature’s Health Services Committee presented the first-place award in its annual best-tasting water contest to the town of Richland during the August legislature meeting at the H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse in Pulaski.
Classical/hip-hop crossover artists Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester and Wil Baptiste, performing as Black Violin, will launch their coast-to-coast Unity Tour with a show at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20, in the renovated Waterman Theatre at SUNY Oswego.

Dawn of Freedom tells the story of the refugees of World War II who were housed at Fort Ontario in Oswego from 1944 – 1946. The story is told through the actual words and memories of the refugees.
The Children’s Room at the Oswego Public library offers free story hour, crafts, and snacks for children. Story hours take place on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
In recognition of her efforts to grow New York’s maple industry, State Senator Patty Ritchie was recently recognized by the NYS Maple Producers Association. She was presented the award, which cites her as an instrumental figure to the growth and success of New York’s maple industry, during a recent tour of local farms.
Youth theater classes led by Anne Raynor will resume on Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Oswego Civic Arts Center. Raynor, a member of the Oswego Players, will conduct the classes on the second Saturday of each month through December, then resume again in the spring.
The SUNY Oswego planetarium will start its fall season by presenting “The Autumn Constellations” at 7 p.m. every Sunday in September.
