Most people believe that when the curtain closes at the theater and the lights are turned off, that the building becomes quiet. That is not the case in the Frances Marion Brown Theater and the full Oswego Civic Arts Center at Fort Ontario.

There will be a chicken barbecue, sponsored by Friends of History In Fulton, NY, Inc., 177 S. First St., to benefit the John Wells Pratt House local History Museum. It will be held on October 1 from 11:30 a.m. until sold out.

Chris Golden, 2016 Crossover Artist of the Year with Christian Voice Magazine, will visit Camden on September 23 for a 7 p.m. concert with special guest national recording artist Sherry Anne at Camden Wesleyan Church, 101 Main St.

The nine-member task force will be analyzing current counterterrorism and protection measures put into place since the September 11, 2001 Terror Attacks on America and will make recommendations for future legislative and administrative actions to public safety for all New Yorkers.

Sixth graders were recently welcomed as to the Central Square Middle School family during the annual sixth grade BBQ. Paul Schoeneck, Principal K-S, said the event served as an introduction to the middle school “because the students are new to us.”

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will hold its 20th annual Salmon River Hatchery Open House and Family Day on Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is being held in conjunction with the celebration of “National Hunting and Fishing Day.”

Kindergarteners joined their peers and teachers in classrooms, where they listened to stories, made new friends, learned classroom and hallway expectations and became familiar with their new learning environment.
