On June 11, the Truxtun Sea Cadet Division of Oswego, bid their two graduating seniors a farewell in a wonderful and honorary discharge graduation ceremony. Petty Officer Third Class (PO3) Mason McDonald and Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) Shyan Fisher were officially discharged with honors from the Truxtun unit, both serving more than three plus years with the division.
The Fulton Lions Club installed its new slate of officers for 2016-17, inducted a new member, and presented club awards for the 2015-16-club year at its June 16 meeting.

“The rabies virus is active across Oswego County,” said Jiancheng Huang, Oswego County Public Health Director. “We have had four animals test positive for rabies this year, in the towns of Mexico, Albion, Minetto and Scriba. Immunizing pets is required by law and is an effective way to reduce the risk of human exposures to rabies.”
The Oswego Players, Inc. are now in the midst of rehearsals for “Fools” and finding laughs not only in the script but in the title as well. When the Players talk about the play, it’s, “Are the fools rehearsing tonight?” “Are the fools marching in the Independence Day Parade?” “Do the fools know their lines?”
The city of Oswego Department of Parks and Recreation, announces the Charles E. Gallagher Swimming Pool will be opening for the 2016 season on June 24 at 12:30 p.m.
The Oswego Youth Court program will hold training for new members from July 18 to 22 at Oswego City Hall. Training will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students in grades 7 through 12 are eligible to apply for Youth Court training. The deadline for applications is July 11.
SUNY Oswego faculty members Diane Brand of the public justice department and Christopher LaLonde of the English and creative writing department will receive the 2016 President’s Award for Excellence in Academic Advisement. The honorees will be recognized at the college’s annual Teaching and Learning Awards Ceremony in the fall.
