The NYS Department of Health recently announced the city of Oswego has been awarded a Fluoridation Quality Award from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang said the Water Department received the award for maintaining a consistent, optimal level of fluoride in its drinking water supply during the 2014 calendar year.
Charming is a happy and handsome boy, about five months old. He was rescued, along with his sisters, from under still another porch in Oswego. He was very timid at first but now he has taken to sleeping in bed with his foster mom.
Oswego Health is offering several free programs to help improve the health of the community. Oswego Health is offering healthy living classes, developed by Stanford University, to help those living with a variety of chronic conditions.
Applications are currently being accepted for summer jobs at Camp Hollis. Camp Hollis is a children’s residential camp owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. The camp is located in the town of Oswego on the shore of Lake Ontario.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego could not accomplish its numerous initiatives without the generous help and support of its volunteers. Through the efforts of executive director Mercedes Niess, the museum, has had a solid corps of dedicated volunteers for decades.
Any residents of Oswego that would like to make their food dollars go farther may order February Food $en$e packages until 3 p.m. February 12. All Oswego area residents may use the program. There are no income limitations and no restrictions on the number of items one may buy.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County 4-H program will conduct a series of workshops, Learn to Sew, which will teach children ages 8 to 19 how to sew with a sewing machine and also by hand.
Part-time honors are awarded to students who earned at least a 3.25 GPA in 6 to 11 credits of course work.
CNY Arts Center and CCC have joined forces to present the annual Family Fun Snow Day January 30. At the request of Fulton Dean John Lamphere, the Alumni Association and Student Government Organization are working with Snow Day coordinator Diane Sokolowski on the details.
