For most of us, the holiday season represents a time for family festivities and good cheer. What few of us consider is that the holiday season is a time when there is an increased risk of home fires. According to the Oswego Fire Department, many households engage in holiday activities that serve as some of the leading causes of U.S. home fires, including cooking.
All Oswego County offices, solid waste transfer stations, the Bristol Hill Landfill and the Materials Recovery Facility will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25, for Christmas Day, and Friday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day.
The Compass Federal Credit Union has supported the purchase an automated external defibrillator to be installed at the Fulton Medical Center. The purchase was made possible following a Compass membership drive that also benefited the Oswego Health system.

We have been thinking lately about how we, as the spokesanimals for a small animal welfare non-profit in a small rural county in Upstate New York, fit into the larger scheme of things – when there is so much hatred and misery in the world and when it seems that people everywhere are so angry about so much.
